About Us
Thurso Community Development Trust is a registered charity formed in 2018 and is committed to improving the wellbeing and development of the local community. Our projects are developed with the local community through ongoing communication and consultation. Current projects include: The Greenhouses and Community Garden, the Harbour Toilets, Community Christmas Dinner, a monthly Lunch Club for Older Adults, summer family fun days, community markets and the Men’s Shed.
We are looking for an experienced Administrative Officer to join our team and contribute to the growth and sustainability of our community-based projects.
Role Overview
The Administration & Project Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of Thurso Community Development Trust’s day-to-day operations and project delivery. Working closely with staff, volunteers, and partners, you will provide essential administrative and organisational support across a variety of community projects and initiatives. This is a dynamic role with the opportunity to contribute to the future development and growth of both the organisation and the position itself.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support, including managing communications, scheduling meetings, and maintaining records.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of community projects, events, and consultations.
- Support internal and external communications, including social media, newsletters, and website updates.
- Help prepare reports, funding applications, and promotional materials.
- Act as a first point of contact for the public, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring a friendly and professional response.
What we are looking for
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Confident working independently and as part of a team, including with staff, Trustees, and volunteers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail when handling data and preparing reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and SharePoint

Additional Information
The role includes occasional evening and weekend working to support Trust activities and community events. Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) will be provided where appropriate.
