Denchi has 20 years of expertise in designing and manufacturing batteries from our base in Thurso, Scotland, we proudly serve blue chip customers in defence, security, aerospace, oil and gas, and renewables markets. We are entering a new phase of growth and we need exceptional talent to grow alongside us.
Key functions:
The Buyer ensures Denchi delivers quality by securing the materials and supplier performance needed to keep production running smoothly and on schedule. Working through the MRP system and strong supplier relationships, the Buyer maintains accurate data, reliable deliveries, and cost control so that every product meets Denchi’s standards of quality- delivered safely, on time, and with care for the environment.
Ownership & Commitment:
- Take ownership of day-to-day purchasing activity, ensuring orders are raised, tracked, and received in line with production needs.
- Liaise directly with suppliers to confirm prices, lead times, and delivery schedules, escalating risks promptly to the Procurement Manager.
- Ensure supplier data and purchase records are accurate and up to date in the MRP system.
- Follow through on issues relating to delivery, pricing, or quality until resolved.
Consistency & Care in Delivery:
- Maintain reliable communication with suppliers and internal teams to support production schedules.
- Monitor open orders and ensure materials arrive on time and in full.
- Support supplier performance reviews by providing accurate delivery and quality data.
- Handle purchase administration with accuracy and attention to detail, maintaining control of costs and documentation.
Learning & Improvement:
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement and materials management processes.
- Identify and suggest practical ways to improve supplier performance, data accuracy, and cost efficiency.
- Participate in reviews of supplier performance, bill of materials (BOM) utilisation, and MRP data integrity.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse data and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under time pressure.
Desirable:
- Experience in a purchasing or supply chain role within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with MRP / ERP systems.
- Ability to interpret basic technical drawings or specifications.
- Working towards or interest in CIPS or other professional qualification.
Full time hours of work Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5pm and Friday 8.00am – 12.30pm.
