We are looking for a Community Development Officer to support Sinclair’s Bay Trust (SBT) and Thrumster Community Development Association (TCDA). The employer for the position is Sinclair’s Bay Trust, but the officer’s time will be split between SBT & TCDA.
Sinclair’s Bay Trust (SBT) is a development trust for the area of Sinclair’s Bay in Caithness. The Trust aims to make Sinclair’s Bay a better place to live, work and visit and currently delivers a number of projects with a view to explore a sustainable project in the near future.
Thrumster Community Development Association (TCDA) have similar aims for Thrumster village and its surrounding area and having recently delivered some successful community projects are now focussed on providing a new Community Hub to replace the existing hall.
Duties:
The role specifically involves working directly with SBT & TCDA to achieve their objectives as well as working closely with both community organisations to identify, develop and deliver community projects in their respective areas.
This will include:
- Undertaking community consultations.
- Building funding strategies.
- Applying for funding and preparing reports for funders, as well as ensuring all requirements for projects are met (e.g. obtaining quotes, relevant permissions, issuing contracts).
- The role may also involve managing and delivering projects.
- The post holder will be required to compile reports for SBT and TCDA and attend SBT and TCDA board meetings, as well as any related meetings as required.
Person Specification:
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently and on own initiative while being able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Project management experience
- Awareness, knowledge and experience of community-led organisations & the third sector (including identifying & applying for funding)
- The ability to work flexible hours (including occasional evening work)
- A full driving licence & access to a car
- Organised, trustworthy & reliable
