Job Description
Vacancies have arisen within the fuel cycle area (FCA) for engineers to support the decommissioning programme. The roles will involve integrating into well-established facility teams and assuming responsibility for a number of the engineering elements within the facility. A key part of the role is monitoring condition of assets, assessing their fitness for purpose writing technical requirements for project work and providing engineering intelligent customer support in addition to plant/ facility compliance/ maintenance activities.
The successful candidate would also be expected to assist with the development and management of the asset management plan (AMP) for the facility. Other examples of areas requiring support are but not limited to providing the engineering oversight and direction for the plant modifications, upgrades, installation, removal, and replacement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Control, develop and monitor plans and procedures
- Design, evaluate and deliver the technical governance of projects
- Identify resource requirements to prepare for/carry out activities
- Develop appropriate solutions for operational problems
- Write technical specifications
- Apply health, safety, environmental and waste management processes with engineering activities taking advice where necessary from appropriate specialists
- Undertake the professional management and execution of contract and project works including observation of work to identify industry standards are applied
- Monitor implementation of plans and procedures to ensure compliance with project schedules, safety procedures and legislation
- Liaise effectively with regulators and stakeholders on specific projects
- Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post
Aptitudes and Experience:
- HND in Engineering or equivalent, degree preferred
- Relevant engineering experience
- Ability to be part of a project team to safely manage the delivery of decommissioning projects to an agreed timescale, cost and quality
- Effective communication skills to manage internal and external stakeholders when required
- Demonstrate behaviours such as resilience, integrity, reliability, ownership
- Demonstrates skills such as team work, conflict resolution, decision making
- Post specific physical capability analysis assessment
