Events Coordinator
The Royal British Legion Scotland Thurso Branch Club is seeking a dedicated and motivated Events Coordinator to oversee the daily and long-term arrangements of events in the Club. This role deals with a busy calendar of social and community events. The ideal candidate will be an experienced hospitality professional with good organisational and people skills — someone who takes pride in providing a welcoming, well-run environment for members, guests, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the club’s events, liaising with the Bar Manager and our out-sourced kitchen caterer so that all members and visitors enjoy an entertaining and high-quality experience.
- Lead the planning and delivery of all Club events and functions, driving maximum use of the facility—from live entertainment and community gatherings to private hire events.
- Manage the content and upkeep of the Branch & Club website, Social Media page(s), notice Board and Lobby TV advising, undertaking changes as required.
- Ensuring procurement of consumables aligns with all events in the Club.
- Ensure all health, safety, and licensing laws are strictly followed.
- Maintain accurate financial and operational records, including cash handling, budgeting.
- Promote the club’s activities and events to members and the local community, encouraging participation and engagement.
- Support the Club Committee with strategic planning, event scheduling, and general improvements to the club’s services.
- Be available for the bar service rota.
Core Duties
- Serve members and guests when required, ensuring friendly and efficient service.
- Monitor cleanliness, atmosphere, and safety across all club facilities.
- Liaise with entertainers, caterers, and event partners.
- Prepare reports and updates for Club Committee meetings.
- Contribute ideas to enhance member experience and attract new visitors.
- The production of marketing material for the Club.
Skills & Capabilities Required
- Proven experience in hospitality or licensed premises.
- Event planning and promotion experience.
- Good communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, approachable manner with a commitment to community values.
- Good knowledge of digital, social media and other marketing routes.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Sound understanding of stock management, cash handling, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications
- Personal Licence Holder (Scotland).
- Certification in Health & Safety.
- Experience working within a member-based or charitable organisation.
