About Us

The Rock Stop is a Social Enterprise and visitor centre containing an exhibition, café and shop. It was
set up by the North West Highlands Geopark Ltd in 2015 and is located in the heart of the Geopark at
Unapool, just south of the Kylesku Bridge.
The North West Highlands Geopark Ltd is a charity which exists to manage UNESCO Global Geopark
Status for the North West Highlands. Our region became the first European Geopark in Scotland in
2004 and was promoted to a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2015 because of its unique, world-class
geological landscape.
UNESCO Global Geoparks don’t just have remarkable geology though – they are places where
outstanding geological heritage is used to support sustainable development, through conservation,
education, interpretation and responsible tourism. At the Rock Stop, we give visitors a warm
welcome and encourage them to learn more about the region through our modern interactive
exhibition and publications.

Opportunities 2026

We are looking for seasonal staff for The Rock Stop Visitor Centre who can welcome visitors and prepare and serve food and beverages in the café. The Rock Stop is the premises of the North West Highlands Geopark and houses an established café, gift shop, and exhibition space. We are situated in Unapool, near Kylesku, with panoramic views of Loch Glencoul with wildlife often visible from the kitchen and café. 

We are planning to open to the public for 5 days a week Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm. Part time and full time (37.5 hours per
week) hours are available

Outline of main responsibilities

General

• Speaking to visitors & offering information
• Cleaning & tidying
• Records maintenance
• Reconciling daily cash with till records

Café & Shop

• Preparing light meals and baking
• Serving customers

Other duties as required working together with the Geopark Manager and Rock Stop team to ensure the efficient
running of the business.
