As a Tour Guide, you will be responsible for bringing the rich history of The Castle of Mey to life through delivering engaging tours to individuals and coach groups visiting us. Running in a free flow system, guides are expected to provide accurate facts and anecdotes relating to the Queen Mother and the history of the Castle clearly and confidently to others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors to your allocated room and create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere
- Adapting tours to suit different group sizes and interests
- Sharing detailed information about the Castle of Mey’s history to visitors in a consistently enthusiastic and engaging manner
- Using professional knowledge to answer questions and provide insights to fulfil customer’s experience
- Ensure the safety and well-being of visitors during tours, assisting with crowd control and ticketing whenever required
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in tour guiding is not essential as training and guide notes will be provided. A high level of customer service is important along with enthusiasm to ensure guests to have the best possible experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to engage and interact with diverse audiences
- An interest in history with the ability to process and distribute accurate information to others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Extra Information
Working hours from 11am to 3pm (hours may vary). Seasonal position, working from 1st May to 30th September with flexible part time or full time options available. Due to location transport is essential. Uniform will be provided.
