John Gunn & Sons Ltd. are a long-established company based in Caithness, Scotland, who specialise in civil engineering operations, quarry supplies and services, property development and plant hire. Our quarry operations are the heart of the company and most critical part of the business in ensuring our projects have compliant and available material required to complete our projects efficiently and to our high standards. The position will be a 3-year apprenticeship including in house training and alongside multiple industry training courses.

Job Description

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Testing of all quarry materials including aggregates, concrete, asphalt and concrete blocks
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of all testing
• Work alongside our quarry team assisting in the production of all materials
• Undertake quality control checks to ensure work meets our high standards
• Track any changes on testing requirements, standards, and mix designs

Requirements

• National 5 of above in Maths and English
• Someone who is enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Someone who can work as part of a team and as an individual
• Good communications skills and able to build working relationships
• Be self-motivated

Desirable (but not essential)

• A full UK Driving license
• A basic knowledge of computers
