Ben Bhraggie is home to the towering landmark statue of the Duke of Sutherland, locally known as ‘The Mannie’, which holds key significance in the story of the Highland Clearances.

The walk up to this monument starts in the village of Golspie, then takes steep route up through forestry paths and over the face of the Ben. You will then be greeted by the enormous scale of the monument which stands at over 100-foot height. Here, you will be treated to panoramic views of both the village of Golspie and the sweeping East Coast, as well as the rolling hills and glens of inland Sutherland.

Thanks to its clear waymarked paths, this walk makes a welcome climb for everyone in the family, and can even be extended by taking a separate route back incorporating the dramatic Big Burn path.
