Ben Hope

Ben Hope is the Northernmost Munro, boasting an impressive 946-meter ascent to the peak.

Rising proudly above the Flow Country and Loch Hope, Ben Hope is the most northerly of Scotland’s Munros and a rewarding challenge for experienced hillwalkers. Though the route is relatively short at 7.5 km (4.75 miles return), the ascent is steep and sustained, demanding a good level of fitness and sure-footedness.

The path is well-trodden and easy to follow, making Ben Hope a popular choice for those beginning their Munro-bagging journey. However, the mountain’s false summits and exposed terrain mean it’s best tackled on a clear day, when the effort is richly rewarded with panoramic views. From the summit, walkers can gaze across neighbouring peaks, glittering lochans, and on a clear day even out to Orkney.

Whether you’re chasing summits or simply seeking solitude in the far north, Ben Hope offers a dramatic and unforgettable experience.
