Ben More Assynt

Standing at 998 metres, Ben More Assynt is the highest peak in Sutherland and one of only two Munros in the Assynt region. This rugged mountain offers a truly remote and rewarding experience for seasoned hillwalkers. Though the ascent is relatively short, it is steep and strenuous, requiring a good level of fitness and confidence on rough terrain.

The most popular route begins at Inchnadamph, following a well-trodden path through Gleann Dubh before climbing steeply to the summit via Conival, its neighbouring Munro. The quartzite ridge between the two peaks is rocky and slow-going, but the effort is more than worth it. From the summit of Ben More Assynt, walkers are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lochans.
