Dornoch to Golspie and Dunrobin Castle

This picturesque coastal cycle begins in the historic town of Dornoch, heading north along quiet roads to the seaside village of Embo, known for its sandy beach and views across the Dornoch Firth. From Embo, follow scenic back roads and trails through dunes and farmland, then onto the A9 to reach Golspie, a charming village with cafés and sea views.
Continue a short distance northeast to the fairytale-like Dunrobin Castle, one of Scotland’s most iconic stately homes, with its grand turrets and beautiful gardens overlooking the sea. The route is mostly flat and around 27 miles return, making it a relaxed ride suitable for most cyclists, with history, beaches, and Highland charm along the way, and why not take a packed lunch? You’ll be spoilt for choice of picnic spots on the way.
