Durness Beach, also known as Sango Bay, is an unforgettable beach with soft white sand, striking rock formations, and crystal-clear water. it’s perfect for beach games, paddling, and exploring. Kids will love clambering over rocks at low tide, spotting sea creatures in the rock pools, and watching waves crash in from the Atlantic.
The beach is easily accessible from the village, with parking, public toilets and viewing points close by. Just above the beach is an excellent campsite and a visitor centre with helpful local information. The beach also offers good surfing conditions. There is an incredible view point with views over the bay and over the coast -not to be missed.
The village of Durness has plenty of family-friendly amenities. Treat everyone to delicious hot chocolate and handmade truffles at the famous Cocoa Mountain in the nearby Balnakeil Craft Village, or explore the magical Smoo Cave with its dramatic sea-carved chamber and waterfall.
