Farr Stone

Standing just outside the Strathnaver Museum in Bettyhill, the Farr Stone is a striking Pictish cross-slab dating from around 800–850 AD.

Carved from blue schist, the stone features a beautifully detailed ringed cross with intricate panels of interlace and key patterns, believed to mark the grave of a prominent religious or political figure.

This ancient monument is part of the Highland Pictish Trail and offers a fascinating glimpse into early medieval Scotland. Surrounded by other historic gravestones, the site is peaceful and evocative—perfect for history lovers and photographers alike.
