Lairg to The Falls of Shin and Return
Cycle Trail: Distance: 9.3 miles (15km) return Grade: Easy to Moderate
This gentle out-and-back ride starts in the Highland village of Lairg, following the A839 southwest through rolling countryside and peaceful woodland. The quiet road offers pleasant cycling with occasional glimpses of the River Shin alongside.
After around 6 miles, you’ll reach the Falls of Shin, a popular spot where—during summer months—you might catch sight of salmon leaping upstream. There’s also a visitor centre, café, and woodland walks to enjoy before turning back.
The return ride retraces the same scenic route, making for a relaxing 9 mile round trip—ideal for a short ride with natural beauty and a rewarding midway stop.
