Loch Fleet Nature Reserve
Reconnect with nature and enjoy the massive amount of diversity at Loch Fleet.
In many ways Loch Fleet gives you three reserves for the price of one. Linger on the edge of the tidal basin at low tide to watch the intense feeding activity of hungry wading birds. Walk out onto the sand dunes and you can enjoy the carpet of wildflowers that nestles on the dunes against a grey lichen backdrop. Or wander in the woodland and smell the fresh scent of pine needles, whilst searching out rare pinewood plants.
The huge amount of diversity that exists here means that there’ll be something to find here no matter what the time of year is. On a sunny day you can relax on the sandy beach at Littleferry and maybe even catch a glimpse of the seals on the sandbanks across the bay doing the same! Or in the colder months keep an eye out for waterfowl and waders lochside.
There are a number of well signposted trails around the Loch Fleet Nature Reserve for anyone hoping to do some exploring in nature, whether that be on foot or by bike, these trails are suitable for either. The Loch Fleet and Balblair Wood circular trail showcases the wild beauty of both the shoreline and woodland for anyone wanting to reconnect with nature.
