The Hill o’ Many Stanes
You don’t expect something so mysterious to pop up in the middle of the countryside like this, but it does – and it’s pretty incredible.
Over 200 stones are set out in rows on a hillside, quietly sitting there in the wind, as they’ve done for thousands of years. It’s not a long walk from the car park, but it’s one that stays with you. You start to wonder what they were for, who put them there, and why. If you like a bit of wonder with your walk, don’t miss it.
- Distance: Short walk from car park (~0.5 mile)
- Grade: Easy
- Highlights: Mysterious Bronze Age stone rows in peaceful countryside.
